A new year is nearly upon us, which means it’s almost time for one thing – New Year’s Resolutions! While resolutions get a bit of a bad rap for being somewhat unsustainable, the beginning of a new year is still a good time to re-evaluate our perspectives on what makes us feel good inside and out.
Shopping Sense asked some of our fave women in Beauty & Wellness to share the beauty resolutions they will be committing to next year.
Embrace My Natural Beauty
Satya Collymore
Satya Marie Beauty, Beauty Professional
“My beauty resolution for 2022 is to embrace my natural beauty by taking care of my skin, so I don’t constantly need to cover up imperfections. Where there are imperfections, I’m learning to wear them confidently.
The Sticking Plan?
Drinking more water, wearing my sunscreen EVERY DAY and eating less processed foods are on my to-do list to achieve this goal. In addition, I’ll be continuing my newfound skincare routine into 2022 because darling . . . IT’S BEEN WORKING! Two names, CeraVe and The Ordinary. Thank me later!”
Be Intentional With My Mental Wellbeing
Rabiah Butcher
Fitness Enthusiast, Entrepreneur, @rawellnessco /@rrbeautybox.bb
“My focus for 2022 is to be more intentional with my mental health, and one of the main pillars of great mental health is self-care – how you feel about yourself from the inside out. So next year, my resolutions are centred around the concept of nurturing self, with particular emphasis on the physical.”
The Sticking Plan?
1. Eat To Nurture. What you eat directly impacts the quality of your mental health. I plan to incorporate more whole foods into my diet to nourish my body on a cellular level, consuming more nutrient-dense foods daily.
2. Remain Active. Incorporate an outdoor cardio day in my five-day workout week to improve my cardiovascular health and get the healing only nature can bring.
3. Rest is just as important as the work. When my body aches and feels tired, I will make an effort to rest, reminding myself that it is a crucial part of maintaining balance in my life.

Glow from the Inside Out
Sherryanne Moore
Creative Director, The Powder Room
“I’ve decided to take my skincare the extra mile. Having my makeup, lashes, or brows done means little if my skin is not glowing. I aim to glow from the inside out.
The Sticking Plan?
- Mind my diet and water intake and ensure I consume enough water while not ignoring the obvious health benefits; it will help the appearance of my skin.
- Exercise. A proper sweat and some good endorphins are always encouraged. In these times, a soca intense cardio session should do the trick.
- Facials. I am holding the hand of my esthetician to guide me on this journey. Adequate facials, along with the necessary at-home care and some discipline, should go a long way in hitting my glow target!

Master Work/Life Balance
Deirdre Blackett
Founder, The Pure Beauty Bag
“I am determined to reshape my work/life balance. Intentional self-care will be a heavy focus for me, carving time out to take care of my mind and body.
The Sticking Plan?
This will look like working out, meal prep, journaling, and engaging in anything that fills my cup.”

A Stronger Effort to Eat the Rainbow
Marita Greenidge
Certified Yoga Instructor & Wellness Retailer, @ekamwellness
“My diet is filled with a healthy helping of fruit and vegetables. However, I don’t always mix the variety and colours as I should. Often, it is as a result of running out of food because I poorly estimate my usage patterns. Eating a rich variety of colourful foods expands your nutrient intake; you are giving your body an array of vitamins and minerals beneficial to your health.”
The Sticking Plan?
- Grow vegetables I can easily maintain – spinach, kale, lettuce, beets, etc. (I’ve now experimented enough to know what I don’t kill easily).
- Cook more at home so I reduce spoilage and have a wider array of choices.
- Prioritise getting produce when I know I’m running low.
A Daily Gratitude Practice
“I practice gratitude pretty often and it always places me in a healthier mental space. The last 20 plus months have been particularly difficult and it’s easy to adopt a defeatist attitude. Practising gratitude reminds of the positives when negatives dominate societal narrative. It frames your perspective so you navigate from a space of abundance and appreciation. Practising at the beginning of the day I find helps set my tone for the day.”
The Sticking Plan?
- Place my gratitude journal by my yoga mat so I am reminded to reflect on the positives. after my daily practice. (The bedside table doesn’t quite work for me).
- Write every day, even if it’s only one small thought.
- Recognise that I prefer the act of writing rather than typing (no apps).
